About Us

 CLASP's structures consist of its:

  • Church Leaders' Meeting which is also the
  • Sponsoring Body for Local Ecumenical Partnerships, and is assisted by a
  • Local Support & Advisory Group.
  • Enabling Group
  • Task Groups, established as required

The Church Leaders meet in the early winter at an overnight residential Conference. This draws together the regional denominational leaders, each having another key person from their area in attendance. The Meeting is greatly valued as a time for theologcal reflection led by a guest speaker, a time to plan future shared action, and and as an opportunity for leaders to get to know each other. Currently, the Chair is the Rt Rev David McGough.

In the summer Church Leaders and their representatives also meet to receive reports, and occasionally a Review, on each LEP.

In the past the Local Support & Advisory Group for LEPs acted on behalf of the Sponsoring Body with each of its members befriending a particular LEP. We are at present short of such befrienders.  If you feel the call, do contact us!

Currently the Enabling Group is taking over the LSAG's responsibilities: this Group meets quarterly.  Each of the denominations is represented at this meeting by a Denominational Ecumenical Officer or other representative, and these are the "make-it-happen" people.   Its Co-Chairs are Miss Sue Booth and the Ven. Chris Liley.  Its minuting Secretary is Mr Ken Hackett and its treasurer Mr David Beswick. .

CLASP employs one part-time officer. He is the Ecumenical Mission Officer, the Revd Philip Webb.

Philip is Secretary of the Church Leaders' Meeting, and attends the Enabling Group and the LSAG.  He represents CLASP on the West Midlands Region Churches' Forum and maintains links with both Churches Together in Britain & Ireland and Churches Together in England.

He aims to supply Church Leaders, Local Ecumenical Partnerships and Churches Together Groups with a variety of support and useful information through this website, monthly email bulletins and any other appropriate means.

He is always glad to preach or take services on ecumenical occasions, or at any time in our Partnerships, and to visit or come as a speaker to Churches Together group meetings.
